Monday Again

It’s been quite a week!

I’ve been working on baby booties (preemie size) and hats for The Preemie Project. I’ve also done a couple pair for a friend’s newborn, preemie, TWIN grandsons! I hope you can make out just how small these booties are (they are laying on a CD for comparison) – tiny I tell ya!

The mailman also made a couple of stops here. On Wednesday I received a wonderful box o’ yummy goodness from my awesome SP6 – Jen! Be sure to check out her blog. She has taken such good care of me. Look at the greatness from this box:

That’s a cool Pillow Fun with Pooh & Friends book, a night mask with sheep on it, 3 skeins of Sirdar Spree in purple and white and 3 hanks of Berroco Hip-Hop in the prettiest jewel-tone colors!

And who said it doesn’t pay to enter blog contests?!? I won the greatest package from Suzie. Check it out:

On Thursday I had a job interview that went VERY well. So well in fact that on Friday, they offered me the job! YEAH!!!!!!! I’m employed again!!!!!

Now don’t get me wrong – I’ve enjoyed being home for the summer with my girls. We’ve been able to do some things that otherwise would not have happened. But I can say with absolute confidence that they are as ready for me to go back to work as I am! I've also enjoyed being able to knit with various groups 2 or 3 times a week. But, that too must end.

So, today and tomorrow I’m tying up loose ends to prepare to re-enter the work world on Wednesday. I’m really excited about this opportunity. Thanks to everyone for all your positive vibes, thoughts and prayers – they all helped!

Okay, okay

I know I said I'd post pictures earlier this week. But, I didn't. Sorry.

So, without further ado, here are a few:

Here's the small satchel from Knitty.com that I did for DD#1. I love the way it turned out. Now I just need to sew the handle on. This was knit with Cascade 220.

I also got this rocking sock yarn to do a pair for her. The yarn came from Knit Pixie - be sure to check them out if you haven't visited there before.

And this is the lapghan I'm making to donate to From the Heart. This is such a great pattern and so easy to knit. I love seeing how the different yarns knit up next to each other. And since it's self-fringing, when I'm done, it's done! Gotta love that!!!!

Presenting the blanket I was test knitting for La (of JenLa fame). She had submitted it to Knitty, but they chose not to accept it. This was a fun knit and I've totally enjoyed it. I've only got a few more rows to go. Then it will be sent to live with one of my childhood friends who recently had her first baby.

You may recognize this ... my to-go project - the shawl from Morehouse Farms. I love knitting this. It's so easy!!!! I can't wait to get to the part where I get to cut it - very exciting!!!!

I haven't done anymore on Soliel so no photo - I don't know what I'm waiting for. I need to get it finished while the weather is still conducive to wearing a sleeveless top. I'm aiming to finish it this weekend.

And finally, I leave you with a word from Al:
Hi! Me bin mutch bizzy but wanted to sho u anutter nitblogur frend. Can u naim dis blogur? Buhbye!
If you know who this knitblogger is, just leave a comment!

Ahh - that's more like it

... having multiple WIPs. I was feeling a little unsettled only having 2-3 things on the needles. Now I've got 5 on the needles and feel much better.

I may have mentioned this before, but I so completely love knitting with people. I was able to knit with the local Stitch 'n Bitch group on Tuesday because my kids were spending the night with various relatives (DD#1 and 3 with the grandparents, DD#2 with her dad). On Wednesday I was able to join my knitterly friends at Barnes & Noble for our weekly knit. I took the kids to Starbuck's to knit with From the Heart Friday. I worked on a leftovers lapghan that will be given to a chemo patient.

Friday night I cast on for the small satchel from the men's issue of Knitty. I'm doing it in blue and orange - DD#1's school colors ... HIGH school! (OMG - I'm so not ready for it - that's a whole different post). She's totally excited.

I'm doing this satchel for her birthday so she can carry her laptop to/from school. In the county where we live, each middle school and high school student is given a laptop to use during the school year. Until this year, the kids got iBooks, but Dell got the new contract so now they get an Inspiron 600M. (Remind me to tell you about the iBook drama!) But I digress ...

This satchel has been a really quick knit and I even learned a new technique ... i-cord bind off. I'd never done that before and it was really easy! I just love learning new stuff - don't you?

We had DD#1 birthday dinner tonight even though her birthday is later this week. I was able to finish the satchel and felt it. I was literally removing it from the washer as everyone was sitting down to dinner! I just need to sew the strap on. I neglected to take pre-felting photos and then I left the blasted thing at my parents' by mistake so I can't take a photo of it yet. I'll take pictures of this and post it, and a few others, tomorrow. Later!

Houston, we have lift off!

I THINK an answer/fix has been found. It would appear I had some nasty little bug (virus) residing in my 'puter. But never fear, it has now been eradicated - thanks to he-who-shall-not-be-named ... the ex ... see, he can be pretty decent when he wants!

Now, let's see if we can do a proper post here!

The end of July the kids went to vacation bible school - they had SSOOOOOO much fun. The theme was a safari in the Serengeti. Here's a shot of the stage and the jungle animals - very well done!

Here is DDs #2 in the pink shirt with glasses:

And DD#3 with pigtails on the back row with the yellow streamer in her hand:

I couldn't get a good shot of DD#1 because where she was standing on stage was too dark.

On Friday we hooked up with the From the Heart ladies. Here are Miss Anne and Miss Daisy working on a project:

And here are my girls - they weren't knitting at this point, they were eating a snack and playing the GameBoy:

Then on Sunday I was able to head over to the Yarn Lounge to knit with L-B and Mira. Have I told you I love knitting with others?!?

No progress shots on the current WIPs since there isn't much different to show ... they're just a little longer. Oh, and the baby socks (see below) I did for my cousin's baby .... well, she had twin boys!!!! So, I guess it's a good thing I did 2 pair!

I'm here!

You can call off the search party ... I'm still here.

But I'm having some computer/internet issues. Maybe you can help me figure this out ... when I'm on the internet, whenever I left click on a link or put an address in the addy bar, I get the stupid "can't find this page" error message. But if I double click quickly, I can get to the page I want. Huh? Any idea what's going on? Help. Please.

I've spent over an hour on a post for tonight and it just isn't working because of this lovely hiccup. I've rebooted the 'puter, I've unplugged the modem and plugged it back in. I'm at a loss.
