Can't.Blog.Must.Knit. (Hi Elizabeth!)

Since they say a picture is worth a thousand words, this one's worth about 4k!

These are the socks I knit for DD#3 for Christmas.

Pattern: Cool as a Cucumber Socks (2005 Knitting Pattern a Day Calendar)
Yarn: KnitPicks Simple Stripes
I enjoyed this pattern and yarn so much, I knit 4 pair! You know, her MaryJane shoes are the BEST for showing off hand-knit socks. Hmm, I think I be needing me a pair.

These are 3 of the Fuzzy Scarves I knit for gifts:

Pattern: My own
Yarn: 1 skein each Lion Brand Boucle & Self-Striping Fun Fur
I've probably knit almost 25 of these scarves in the last 3 years. Excellent last minute gift and everybody lurves 'em!

More socks - I made these for my little cousin William (4 yo). He and my aunt came to visit from Vermont over New Year's. I cast on for these Friday night (12/30/05) and finished them New Year's Day - not too shabby!

Pattern: Combination of several patterns/techniques, including star toe (a new technique for me!)
Yarn: Reynolds Swizzle sock yarn
I really enjoyed this yarn. I got it off the swap table at the Knitters Review Retreat. I actually scored 2 skeins. Since this pair didn't use a whole skein, I should be able to make 2 more pairs with what I've got left. Granted, one pair will be for a little person, but that's okay!

I've also been knitting the Last Minute Simple Stripes sweater (a free pattern from KnitPicks). All pieces are knit, now I need to block it and prepare for finishing. This is my first.sweater.ever! I'm so excited about it. Hopefully I'll have photos in the next day or so.

I cast on for this tonight - it's the Bella Scarf, an exclusive pattern for KnitPicks (sorry, tired of linking - check the sidebar), using the recommended yarn - Suri Dream. With this pattern I've learned the Provisional Cast On - totally cool! I've just unzipped the live stitches and put them on the needle to knit the rest of the scarf. I dropped one of the stitches so you can see the effect:

I must say I'm enjoying this pattern so far. It's very well written and a pretty quick knit. I bought the yarn to make at least 1 for me and 4 others for gifts. Could this be the first SSCP for 2006? Only time will tell.
